In Memoriam: Dr. John Reynolds
In appreciation of our founder, Dr. John Reynolds
April 17th, 1963 – December 9th, 2021
Dr. Reynolds grew up in the suburbs of northern New Jersey. His siblings were allergic to animals and the only pet he was allowed to have, was a rat named, “Jeremy.” When Dr. Reynolds was in high school, he read “All Creatures Great and Small” by James Herriot. This book inspired him to become a veterinarian. It was all he ever wanted to do.
Dr. Reynolds went to college at Colgate University and then studied veterinary medicine at Cornell. He purchased Pittsfield Veterinary Hospital in 1996. He and his wife, Valeri, settled in the Berkshires where they raised three daughters. He worked tirelessly to create a veterinary hospital that served the community. He aspired to give the best possible veterinary care to all his clients.
Dr. Reynolds touched the lives of all he met with kindness and compassion. He lived his life to the fullest and was an exuberant human being. He was a role model and friend to over forty PVH employees. Dr. Reynolds was a remarkable veterinarian and a true inspiration to the community. Pittsfield Veterinary Hospital and Shaker Hill Pet Resort are dedicated to fulfilling his legacy and will continue to serve the community by helping people and their pets.
