Bridget was born and raised in Southern Vermont on a small horse farm. Animals have always been a huge part of her life and the compassion she had for them drove her to want to have a positive impact on their lives, and the lives of their owners. When asked what aspired her to become a Veterinarian, she said, “Going to work every day knowing that I would be able to promote the health and welfare of animals, alleviate suffering and educate their human counterparts really propelled my desire to become a Veterinarian from a very young age.”
Bridget ambitiously chased that dream and attended New Hampshire University where she obtained her B.S. in Pre Veterinary Medicine. After graduation she continued her academic career at Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine and completed her Clinical year at Cornell University School of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Pope graduated in May of 2014 when she joined Pittsfield Veterinary Hospital as a full time associate and moved to the Berkshires.
Dr. Pope can see a variety of animals with various illnesses during a typical work day. However, no two days are alike at Pittsfield Vet. She practice's general small animal medicine with a special interest in soft tissue and orthopedic surgery. Dr. Pope was asked about her role at PVH, and she said, “Every wellness exam is different and it's exciting to get to know each and every patient. Veterinary Medicine is extremely dynamic which requires us to use various diagnostic tools, communication with owners and our comprehensive and ever evolving education to provide the best possible care. It requires a lot of dedication and commitment. Yes, some days are challenging but positive outcomes for the animal & owner can be extremely rewarding.”
During Undergraduate school, Bridget met her husband Spencer, who is also an avid animal lover and outdoor enthusiast. Together they love spending time outside. Some of their favorite activities include hiking, skiing and horseback-riding. They also spend a lot of time traveling with their two beautiful children, Alexander (a very active toddler) and Anika (their newborn baby), to see family.
At home you can find two wonderful dogs with very unique personalities. There is a 6 year old black mouth Cur named Indiana Jones and a 5 year old boxer mix named Sammy, both of whom were brought home for the Caribbean. The Pope family also has an ancient English Lop rabbit who hops around the house and hangs out with the dogs.
